Privacy policy

TidyType runs in your browser and fixes what you type on the sites you switch it on for. This page says what it does with data. The short version: what you type stays on your device, and the only thing we collect is anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off.

What you type

TidyType reads the text in the box you are typing in so it can capitalize sentences, add full stops and fix typos. That happens on your device. The text is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not saved.

It only works on sites you turn on. Five chat sites are on by default: WhatsApp Web, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram and Telegram Web. You can add others. It leaves password, email and search fields and code editors alone.

What stays on your device

Removing the extension deletes all of it.

Usage counts from the extension

Once a day the extension sends us a small message. It contains:

We also get a message when you install and when you click the upgrade button. We use these to count active users and see which features people use.

The messages never contain text you typed, the sites you visited or any browsing history. Our database does not store your IP address. Our host, Cloudflare, sees it in order to deliver the request, as any web host does, and the only thing we keep from it is the country.

You can turn this off in the popup under Privacy. After that the extension sends nothing.

This website

The site counts page views and a few actions: starting to type in the demo, clicking Add to Chrome and turning the sound on. It sets no cookies and stores no ID. For each count it records the page, the domain you came from, whether your screen is a phone, tablet or desktop, and your country.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the site counts nothing. What you type into the demo sheet stays in your browser.

Payments

Pro is a one-time payment handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. They collect your email address and payment details, and we never see your card. We are only told whether an install has paid. Their own privacy policies apply to what they collect.

The uninstall survey and feedback box

When you uninstall, Chrome opens a page on this site asking why. It is optional. If you answer, we store your answers (the reason, the site you used it on, whether you would try it again, and any note you write), so please keep personal details out of the note.

The guide that opens after you install has an optional feedback box that is handled the same way. We cannot reply to either one. To get a reply, email us.

Sharing, retention and children

We do not sell data, share it with advertisers or use it for ads. Usage events are kept for up to 13 months. TidyType is not aimed at children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions or deletion requests: nivenjay10@gmail.com. To have your counts deleted, send the install ID from the extension popup (Privacy, then Copy my install ID).
